Lawrenceville man wins weight loss competition | MercerSpace.com

A Lawrenceville resident was the overall first place male winner in a PEAC Health and Fitness weight loss competition.

Mike Hedden and his team The 4H Club collectively lost more than 56 pounds in the I Lost it at PEAC program.

I Lost it at PEAC is a eight-week weight loss program that takes place in the fall and winter. Program coordinator Valerie Lopenzina said the programs mission is to educate and encourage participants to make healthy changes based on proper nutrition and exercise.

142 participants in a PEAC Health and Fitness weight loss program lost a total of 1,223.8 pounds in 2012.

I Lost it at PEAC Participants are grouped into small teams that are assigned a coach. The program includes weekly meetings and weigh-ins

Participants take part in nutritional counseling sessions, healthy food lectures and demonstrations with PEAC?s wellness and lifestyle coach Barbara Allen-Walker,.

?I Lost it at PEAC is not a short term means for people to lose a few pounds,? Lopenzina said, ?the goal is for participants to incorporate what they learn into their lifestyle so they continue to improve their long term health and wellness.?

I Lost it at PEAC?s next session is set to begin Jan. 28.
