Former Law Society of Kenya chairman Okong?o Omogeni has urged Kenyans to reject Jubilee coalition?s top candidates because of the consequences the country will face.
Mr Omogeni, who is vying for Nyamira County Senate seat, said although the two have a constitutional right to seek elective office, Kenya would suffer unspecified consequences from the international community.
He said tea and flower farmers who depend on exports for their livelihood would face serious losses if the international community refuses to develop bilateral links with Kenya.
Speaking while on a campaign trail in Nyamira at the weekend, Omogeni vying on ODM ticket said Jubilee alliance candidates do not meet the threshold of constitutional requirements on integrity and leadership as outlined in Chapter Six.
?It would be pretentious for leaders to bury their heads in the sand over the ICC matter and its implications. The electorate must be told the truth so that they decide based on facts,? said Omogeni.
He called for the public to ensure that the two are not voted in since the country?s reputation would be ruined. He added voting for them would be a continuation of impunity and lack of respect for rule of law.
